Urban Glamour #20
THE PROPERTY
A Georgian semi in north London. The lower-ground floor has a kitchen/dining/living area, utility room and WC, with a double-height space above the dining zone. Overlooking this is the mezzanine library and formal living room. The master bedroom, his-and-hers dressing rooms, master bathroom and a WC are on the first floor. The boys’ bedrooms are on the second floor, as is a WC, bathroom and guest bedroom suite.
MEZZANINE LIBRARY
This north London semi was a supermodel-in-a-scruffy-coat kind of place – in need of some sprucing up, but essentially gorgeous.Architect Chris Eaton of Stiff + Trevillion and contractor Jon Loveday headed up the nine-month renovation.
DINING AREA
A double-height space was created, allowing lots more light to flow in. The curveof the wall works wonderfully with the table.
KITCHEN
A black marble splashback prevents this room from feeling too white and sterile.
Bronze mirrored-glass adds a glam note, while the kitchen pendants over the island don't block out any natural light.
LIVING ROOM
The house is furnished with a funky mix of vintage, designer and pop art treasures. Think a G-Plan coffee table next to a leather Edra sofa and modern Australian art.
Thanks to the all-white backdrop, though, and with acres of storage to hold music and books, the pieces hang together beautifully. There’s space for displaying favourite items too.
Walls are peppered with art celebrating British pop culture, from The Beatles to The Clash. The artwork above, entitled Growler, was bought in Sydney – it’s by Australian artist Adam Cullen.
MASTER BEDROOM
The master bedroom is at the back of the house where it's quieter, and where doors open on to a semi-circular balcony.
BOYS’ BEDROOM
There was a 13-week shipping time for these Danish bunk beds to arrive, but the delay and hassle of getting them into the house was worth it as they're perfect for sleepovers.
MASTER BATHROOM
Marble in the bathroom creates a glam and timeless look.
