Introducing design duo, Humbert & Poyet
Chances are that you’re already familiar with two-man-band Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet by way of the boutique Hoxton Hotel group (an enterprise that started in London’s Shoreditch in 2006 and has since launched in London’s Holborn, Amsterdam and Paris).
Responsible for the much ’grammed bedrooms of the group’s Parisian outpost, the pair’s ‘luxury meant for everyday living’ philosophy can be seen across the hotel’s mix of chevron timber floors, Jean Prouvé furniture and leather buckle headboards.
Look at the duo’s wider portfolio and a winning formula presents itself: fine materials (marble, lacquered walnut and polished brass) married with Art-Deco influences (check out the recently opened 8th Arrondissement Beefbar for an Art Deco/Nouveau mash-up in historical surroundings), tapping into the current appetite for spaces with feet firmly placed in both the past and present.
Find out more about the current Decorating Trend: Modern Art Deco.
It was perhaps inevitable then that The Invisible Collection (imagine a Net-a-Porter for furniture design, stocking pieces usually only accessible to design professionals from the likes of India Mahdavi, Studio Ashby and Zaha Hadid Design) should come knocking, giving Humbert & Poyet the seal of approval via an invitation to launch a collection on its exclusive online platform.
Our highlights? The cloud-like Théodore chair; Ava, an elegant floor lamp in brass, travertine and sandblasted glass (shown above); and the Deco-print Rebonds pillows (shown below), all designed to complement and mirror the duo’s architecture and interiors projects.
Trés chic.
