LIVING AREA

In a corner of the East End, there’s a loft apartment that dazzles with its own brilliance, integrating a tantalising collaboration of whimsical and wonderful style.

This home has chucked out the interiors rule book by teaming stripped-back brick with ornate gold leaf and quirky theatrical props with vintage furniture.

The place already had a vast expanse of space, but renowned architect Gerald Levin came on board to add more, creating a whole new floor at rooftop level, including more rooms and a huge outside terrace. The project took18 months to complete, during which time the roof was entirely removed and the whole building was enveloped in scaffolding.

With such a huge expanse of floor space to play with, furniture was purposefully clustered at different points in the loft to create ‘pit stops’. Many of these are practical, others are intriguing and some are there simply for the fun of it.

The oak flooring was laid at a diagonal to counteract the uneven shape of the walls and ceiling – all of which adds to the kaleidoscope atmosphere around the loft.

KITCHEN DINER

A raised floor gives the prep area a sense of separation from the living space, while the primarily white scheme radiates calm.

STUDY

The study come studio is an artful display pf curiosities. You can tell a person’s personality by the stuff on their walls.

MASTER BEDROOM

The master bedroom been transformed into something really rather gorgeous with the gold-leaf ceiling, one raw concrete wall and lacquered green elsewhere. We love the mix-up of modern and traditional.
