This Former Met Police Station Has A Rooftop Bar
A police building is not somewhere where you'd normally like to hang out – unless you're in the Force.
But when was the last time you visited a police building that had its own rooftop bar and terrace, gym, art gallery and even a 'secret' members club?
Vauxhall's 12-storey former Met police station Tintagel Househas been transformed into a stylish office and co-working space.
The new office spaceis the latest addition to The Office Group (TOG)'s roster of London workspaces, and – on top of the coolco-working areas and meeting spaces, from secluded quiet corners to social public areas – it offers amembers’ bar, café, gym, shop, art gallery, penthouse apartment, roof garden and panoramic views.
Designed by Stanton Williams and Universal Design Studio, the design was anchored aroundTintagel House’s former life as a Metropolitan Police building.
Materials such as brushed stainless steel were chosen in reference to the building’s history of innovation – particularly its role as the home of the first-ever police computer, which was installed back in the 1960s.
Terrazzo, block colours and plush furnishings soften the harsher materials, paying homage to the space’s midcentury heritage.
Meanwhile, the majority of the top floor was removed and swapped-out for a floating canopy roof with a terrace and members bar, offering spectacular views across the river to East and West London.
The ground floor has a gym opening out on to a garden that overlooks the river, whileupstairs there are private offices, each flooded with natural light. Many offer some great views, plus there's a bar, shop, healthy cafe and meeting rooms, allhousedalongside a speakeasy-style member’s only Secret Room that is hidden behind a cleaner’s cupboard door entrance.
And it's not just the interiors that look good.
Aside from the full roof garden, thepreviously neglected section of riverside path has also been overhauled and given a green-fingered makeover with richly planted areas.
Sound to good to be true? The new office space is just a stone's throw Vauxhall Station and desks start from just £500 per month ...
