Rug Designer Luke Irwin launches exclusive range with John Lewis & Partners
Luxury rug designer Luke Irwin has launched an exclusive diffusion range in collaboration with John Lewis & Partners.
Available from early April 2019, the exclusive rugs will be priced from £1,800.
The collection consists of 11 luxurious rugs which have been hand-knotted using his signature traditional technique and made with a unique dyeing process that leaves a small proportion of the sari silk undyed to give each rug a brilliant, unexpected shot of colour that ‘flickers with life’.
Established in 2003, Luke Irwin specialises in the design and manufacture of hand knotted custom made rugs.
Luke Irwin took an unconventional route into product design, working both in theatre and at Christies before establishing himself as an award-winning rug designer who specialises in the making of hand-knotted, custom-made rugs.
His unique eye for pattern and colour over the past fifteen years has secured him a loyal client base among the world’s most discerning interior designers, architects, private clients and retailers.
‘We believe the importance of a rug in any given space is often greatly underestimated; a good rug can be the cornerstone or foundation on which all the disparate elements and personality within a room are bound together. In such cases the rug should almost be the last thing you note on entering a room, silently providing a basis for the harmony of a scheme,’ says Irwin.
He is also recognised today for collaborations with household names ranging from Anthropologie and The Conran Shop to Williams Sonoma Home, and now John Lewis & Partners.
