Settle in to a Hometel
Combining the comfort and flexibility of an Air B & B with the best bits of staying in a hotel, such as services and security, Room2's 'hometel' brings a modern approach to travel.
Founded by two brothers from Hammersmith, Rob and Stu – who had travelled for 10 years racing boats for GB and were tired of staying in soulless accommodation which disrupted their training – they set about creating thoughtfully designed environments, with a relaxed ethos.
With two outposts, one in London (Hammersmith) and one in Southampton (with openings in Chiswick and Manchester on the horizon), the company aims to revolutionise the budget hotel stay.
The rooms in both 'hometels' come complete with fully equipped kitchens, including a fridge, microwave and dishwasher, so it's easy to make a coffee or tea, whip up a quick snack (or even dinner) and enjoy a cold Chablis or two, without running up a huge mini-bar bill.
The fresh and funky rooms are big enough for families or groups of four friends, and pets are welcome too.
The check in is at 2pm, and so is the check out – and breakfast is from 7-11am at the weekend – which means you can forgo a panicked last-minute dash for the dining room and enjoy a leisurely lie in.
There's the option to rustle up the first meal of the day in your room, or head down to the restaurant, where you can make your own waffles, as well as indulge in a full English, fresh fruit, toast, cereals and other breakfast buffet offerings.
Expect bathrooms stocked with Malin + Goetz toiletries.
There's space to work too, if you're travelling for business, as well as a small shop if you want to stock up on snacks, and a relaxed bar area for early evening G&Ts or a night cap.
