Celebrate summer at Heckfield Place
This gorgeous country pile, owned by HongKong businessman Gerald Chan, opened its doors to eager guests last Autumn.
To celebrate summer, Heckfield Place has now opened the Sun House, its new seasonal restaurant, led by culinary director, Skye Gyngell.
Set in a light-filled, glasshouse the Sun House is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer.
The menus focus on Heckfield-grown vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs, all collected from the estate and Heckfield’s 16-acre biodynamically-principled Home Farm, as well as its Market Garden and Orchard set just yards away.
Situated in 400 acres of pastoral land just an hour from London, the sustainability-focused hotel lures patrons from the capital by redefining the expectations and standards of a country house hotel.
From the modern Ben Thompson interiors that cleverly blend relaxed rural living with classic luxe style to the masterfully pared-back menus of chef Skye Gyngell, Heckfield Place has an accessible glamour that puts visitors at ease in the grand surroundings.
In addition, Heckfield has curated The Assembly – a year-long programme of cultural events guaranteed to be popular with inquiring minds.
Activities this summer include workshops with an eclectic groupof industry insiders, including Florist Kitten Grayson, photographer Cat Garcia and Skye Gyngell herself.
There are woodland walks, yoga classes, mud and guts kids adventures – and on Saturday 13th July, a Plant and Kitchen Produce sale, with goodies from the kitchen and plants from Heckfield's Home Farm, which follows biodynamic principles, guided by Fern Varrow's Jane Scotter.
On rainy days, you can drop in for cinema screenings, circuit classes, gin tastings and of course, breakfast, lunch or dinner in the three restaurants. All of which are available for Heckfield residents and outside guests to enjoy.
We can't think of a better spot to while away the summer days and nights...
