A glimpse inside London's hot new female members club

After the successful launch of AllBright on Rathbone Place last spring, the female members club has followed up with a new site on Maddox Street in the heart of Mayfair - and we can't get enough of its beautiful interior, which has been designed by Suzy Hoodless.

The building is set over five floors and was previously the home of Dreweatts & Bloomsbury auctioneers. Suzy’s aim was to restore the building into an elegant London townhouse using a palette of timber floors and panelled walls which would resonate with the art world in which it resides.

Given the club’s proximity to Savile Row – traditionally associated with bespoke tailoring for men – Suzy wanted to emphasise its relevance for women by incorporating traditional suit fabrics, such as fine wools and houndstooth checks into the design, creating a feminine and imaginative twist.

Each floor serves a different purpose and is decorated accordingly. The entrance and first floor, with its modern European brasserie is bright and welcoming, with a fresh palette of verdant green and pale grey.

The second floor is dedicated to wellbeing, with a state-of-the-art fitness studio, wellness rooms and a hair and beauty salon, where cobalt blue Mille Feuille wallpaper by Raoul Dufy lines the walls.

Dufy – a contemporary of Picasso and Braque – designed and printed fabrics in France from 1911, and six of his archive textile designs have been revived by Christopher Farr Cloth to create bold, floral and geometric fabrics/wallpapers.

The third floor is a co-working space that will have changing installations, where artists will be able to use the panelled walls as a blank canvas.By night, the area becomes a socialising area, where members can meet for book groups or wine clubs, network or bring in guests.

On the fourth floor, the glamorous members’ lounge has a bar, restaurant and large roof terrace. Suzy has used layers of natural materials such as marble, timber, brass and soft, luxurious fabrics, which sit beautifully against the painted panelled walls.

Here the sophisticated palette of dusky pinks and rich greens, gives way to a lighter, fresher feel, with plenty of white space, wicker furniture and foliage.

The outdoor terrace is decorated with encaustic tiles, with soft lighting to illuminate the relaxed space.
