Livingetc Style Awards 2023 winners: Flooring category
The winners of the Flooring category at the Livingetc Style Awards 2023 are announced
As chosen by our judges, a panel made up of Livingetc’s senior editorial team. Global brand director Sarah Spiteri, Global editor in chief Pip Rich, deputy editor (digital) Hugh Metcalf and deputy editor (print) Ellen Finch sifted through all the many, many entries.
BEST RUG - winner: Evolution B III rug from Studio by Tai Ping
We rejoiced at the news that Tai Ping was to introduce a new range of rugs for consumers as well as trade clients – and the resulting pieces didn’t disappoint.
‘This plush rug feels versatile – I can imagine it at home in a variety of schemes,’ says Sarah Spiteri.

BEST RUG COLLECTION - winner: ANGLES by Deirdre Dyson
Deirdre Dyson used nothing more than a set square and a ruler to create her vibrant 2023 collection. The 10 new hand knotted carpets focus on the interplay of angles, linear shapes and colour.
‘These are statement pieces and art in their own right – they’re really the only thing you need in a room to make an impact,’ says Pip Rich.

BEST HARD FLOORING - winner: Carbonised Collection by Woodworks by Ted Todd
Embracing the Japanese wood preservation of yakisugi, Woodworks’ Carbonised Collection – a range of burnt and weathered tones made from European larch – can be used for interior cladding and decorative surfaces as well as for floors.
‘Yakisugi is a stunning contemporary architectural finish used on the exterior of homes, and we were delighted by Woodworks’ efforts to bring it indoors, too,’ says Hugh Metcalf.

BEST TILE - winner: Nymph by Otto Tiles & Design
With three patterns made up of four colours, inspired by earth and water, these marble tiles are also influenced by art deco designs.
‘Otto Tiles are always deliciously indulgent, and Nymph is no exception – I can see these being used in a luxe living room or hall,’ says Pip Rich.

BEST HARD FLOORING - wise buy - winner: Amtico DÉcor x National Trust
Inspired by the architectural features of the National Trust’s Victorian and Georgian properties, this luxury vinyl flooring collaboration with Amtico Décor is packed with geometric extravagance – and crucially, fits as well into contemporary properties as it does period ones.
‘We were impressed with the rich colour palette and versatility of these designs – they’re durable, elegant and statement-making without being too showy,’ says Ellen Finch.
