London has a chic new garden centre – with exclusive collections from Prada and Ganni
This floral fashion paradise features a gnome dressed in new season Bottega Veneta and Gentle Monster sunglasses
The most stylish garden centre in London – if not the world – has opened its doors this week in Selfridges & Co.
The department store has turned their London Accessories section into a fun-filled sensory utopia to promote Good Nature, their creative theme for 2021. This plant-lovers paradise also flows onto Duke and Orchard Street, which surrounds the iconic shopping haven – thus bringing botanical beauty to the heart of the capital.
Selfridges has also expanded the concept to their Manchester and Birmingham stores which similarly launched this week. We've found the most fashionable destination for modern garden ideas in the UK.
The garden centre offers everything enthusiasts may want for their urban gardens and plant-kissed balconies – from seeds for cocktail ingredients – to indoor and outdoor plants that will fill our spaces with greenery in the most stylish way possible. However, the centre also showcases some more unconventional elements, including its exclusive themed clothing range from Prada and from Ganni – housed in a Ganni greenhouse. This is Selfridges, after all.
While we’re inevitably attracted to its botanical jewels, our new and unexpected obsession is with Gary the Gnome, who is dressed in Gentle Monster sunglasses and a Bottega Veneta shirt. Gary – who is drenched in Selfridges yellow paint – is among the merchandise for sale.
So, we can bring this designer gnome into our exteriors, despite the national gnome shortage.
Selfridges Garden Centre also has a ‘potting shed’ which doubles as a workshop space where green-thumbed enthusiasts can take part in expert-run events from this week until July 11th. Highlights include a Garden for Good discussion with Livingetc’s very own garden columnist, Poppy Okotcha, and a 1-2-1 with Selfridges resident gardener Angela Maynard.
‘A garden centre is evocative but familiar and has provided rich inspiration for our teams, literally and creatively,” explains the creative director of Selfridges, Hannah Emslie.
‘We know our customers are more interested in gardening and greening than they ever have been. And so we are playing with the idea by bringing the essentials of a typical garden centre to our stores,’ she adds.
Selfridges Garden Centre is now open in London, Manchester, and Birmingham. Discover more, and listen to their garden-inspired playlist via their website.
