IKEA has just shared disassembly instructions that will make transporting your furniture effortless
Bring BILLY into your new home without any trouble at all
Just when you thought that IKEA couldn’t possibly be any more accommodating, the beloved Swedish powerhouse found another way to make our lives a whole lot easier.
If you are moving home or are planning to reconstruct an old favorite in a new room, but you don’t know how to begin dissembling- you are not alone.
Thankfully for us, the home decor giants have just revealed a selection of easy-to-follow guides that will make the process more painless - meaning you can have your books back on BILLY in no time.
Among the six disassembly guides created by the stylish Scandinavian chain are instructions for their BRIMNES bedroom series and the POÄNG rocking chair. There are also manuals on the LYCKSELE sofa bed, MALM drawers, their famous PAX system, and BILLY bookcase.
Following recent reports that retro IKEA furniture is now collectible, and is selling for thousands, we’re going to want to take extra care of our old furniture.
Fortunately, now we can disassemble our pieces, we can better protect them throughout the moving or decorating process. You can thank us later, but downloading that manual might just make you a small fortune.
The guides are IKEA’s latest initiative to continue making sustainability more accessible to their customers, as it continues to work towards becoming a ‘fully circular and climate positive business by 2030’.
This concept is explored by Hege Sæbjørnsen, Country Sustainability Manager at IKEA UK & Ireland, who explained:
‘In the past three years we have put a great deal of effort into understanding and defining what a truly circular value chain means for IKEA, and as such, we want to take circular consumption mainstream and make it easier than ever for customers to acquire, care for and pass on products such as by repairing, reusing, reselling, and recycling them.’
‘Alongside other initiatives like Buy Back, we hope the reverse manuals inspire people to re-think their consumption habits by extending the life cycle of our products and, together, we are taking small steps, to help reverse against climate change at this critical time,’ Sæbjørnsen added.
