The room is currently being used as a family room, offering a sharply contemporary take on how family life can be organized. In contrast with traditional home layouts where everything is compartmentalized, it creates a communal feeling (in fact, the house was once used as a communal dwelling for a group of artists).

The open-plan kitchen and dining area is washed in bright light from the south-facing courtyard. It also benefits from the warmth of the yellow pine cabinetry used throughout the kitchen-diner area.
