Emotional escape rooms – 2022's wellness trend

Emotional escape rooms very much do what they say - they're rooms to escape from certain emotions. This can come in a range of forms, whether that is to unload stress in a meditation space, or pummel out some anger in a rage room.

'If you need a place to go to feel all the feels, there's a room for that. People will plan their great (indoor) escapes and designate rooms in their homes to decompress, vibe, and rage,' Pinterest shares.

According to the image-sharing social media platform, people of all ages are set to embrace emotional escape rooms, as all generations are driving searches for music-themed rooms, crystal rooms, and even rage rooms in equal measure.

Their prediction comes after rage rooms (spaces where you can release anger by destroying surrounding objects) dominated recent search trends (up by 150%) across the site. However, we're not just looking for rooms to unload anger, but to inspire us too.

'Music-themed rooms' have doubled in search over recent months, whilst desires for 'crystal rooms' have multiplied 8X over. Meanwhile, 'tiny library rooms' have increased by 12x, and searches for 'home massage rooms' are up by 190 percent.

Unsurprisingly, the holy grail of clearing your head - 'meditation spaces' - has also seen a 430.57% uplift in a google search study by MyJobQuote.

'Pinterest attracts planners, which means people come to the platform for inspiration for the next thing they want to do, try or buy,' says Louise Richardson, Director of Marketing at Pinterest.

'This gives us a unique view of what the future holds and what the next big trends are likely to be – it's a bit like having a crystal ball.'

In most cases not many of us have a full room to devote to emotional escape, so this is one trend we expect to be combined and translated into our bedroom and modern living room ideas in the New Year.

What would your emotional escape room include?
