Five style lessons to transform your WFH space from this painfully cool Moscow office
The former tsarist factory is a chic maze of modern art and psychedelic glass furnishings – and we're completely in awe
Brace yourself: Moscow-based designer Dmitry Reutov has just set a new standard for offices worldwide – and we've never felt more inspired to decorate our working space.
Armed with candy-cotton paint, a collection of kaleidoscopic furnishings, and an unrivaled imagination, Reutov Design studio renovated a former tsarist factory into a marble utopia that pays homage to its industrial past – in the chicest way possible.
While our striking home offices may not boast the same textured walls and terrazzo floors of this Russian haven, we can still draw inspiration from Dmitry's rainbow-kissed paradise and mirror elements of its design in our own modern homes. But beware, you will never look at any office in the same way again.
1. Make a statement with your light fixtures
For an instant focal point in any room – in your home office or beyond – look no further than a show-stopping light fixture such – as seen above in The Age of Time Office. Follow Dmitry's lead and choose a bold light fixture that accentuates the room's architectural features just as his black curved lights mirror the office's arches, then bring these fixtures into the center of the room to make a curated statement.
2. Bigger furniture is better furniture
It's certainly no secret that we're entirely obsessed with the oversized furniture trend, but now, we're taking this craze into our office space too. Think big cabinets, big tables, and even bigger chairs, where you can set up a spacious working zone without your ever-growing collection of used coffee mugs getting in the way (we're guilty too). Practicality aside, however, big furniture is indisputably stylish and oh so current, but we were already sold from the photo.
3. Create cocktail of different era's
The ingeniously named Age of Time Office is a cocktail of contrasting decades – remnants of which are showcased throughout the architectural and interior design. The Tsarist weapon factory spent an era as a scientific and technical complex under the USSR before time as an abandoned space.
Instead of bringing the entire space into the colorful contemporary day, Dmitry preserved elements of its heritage, including the arches, rough grey-tinted walls, and signature terrazzo tiles, and combined them with modernist styles.
Whether your home office has a period fireplace, ornate doorway or unique window space, we've got permission to combine these features with ultra-modern interior styles to create a flavorful space that will draw a lot of attention on your video calls.
4. Use furniture to inject color into a monochromatic scheme
We're all a little guilty for giving into gray or opting for a subtle monochrome scheme in our office, and while this has its perks, we're inevitably thinking about how we can liven these spaces to inject a little bit of fun and keep us feeling energized.
Cue, The Age of Time Office, which uses vibrant glass furnishings and bold pieces of modern art to drench the industrial gray setting in just the right amount of color. It's stylish, sophisticated, and thoroughly inspiring.
5. Don't be scared to accessorize your workspace

While our office doesn't feel as personal as other rooms in our home, there is no reason why we should shy away from accessories that add a fashionable touch to the space.
Take inspiration from Dmitry's office and choose accessories that are as refined as they are personal – including art books and house plants. We can't promise you won't spend your days procrastinating over a coffee table book, but at least you'll be procrastinating in style.
We simply can't stop thinking about this office. Thank you for bringing this space into our lives, Dmitry.
