Big Bonfire Night gatherings and firework displays may be off the cards but we can still celebrate these annual autumnal events at home - and in style.

We've all got used to socialising differently this year - and many have discovered novel ideas to make things as much, if not more, fun than they were. It just takes a little effort and imagination.

Spending bonfire night at home is no longer restricted to a sparkler and a sausage in the shivering night air.

There's a host of home kit available that can make outdoor Autumn entertaining go with a bang.

STAY TOASTY WITH A CHIMINEA

This stylish steel chiminea, from All things Brighton Beautiful at Not On The High Street, will keep those gathered around it toasty all evening.

The streamlined firepit comes with a tall chimney and sits on raised feet, leaving a neat space for wood storage, so you can stay topped up with timber whilst you're using it. (Wood for burning needs to be kept dry).

The exterior has been left untreated, so it will age over time and develop a gorgeous rusty patina.

Just make sure you place it on a non-combustible surface eg tiles or stone, and not timber decking - and store it away once winter and harsher weather sets in.

SAVE SPACE WITH A FIREPIT TABLE

Want to eat al fresco in the Autumn? Stay warm and save space with this Palma Fire Pit table from Kettler. This nifty piece of outdoor kit has the versatility to transform from flat table top to cool campfire.

Gather around the gas fire when the sun goes down and use the easy control panel at the side of the table to turn the heat up or down.

If eating dinner outside is a step too far on a cool night, grab your best blankets, put lava rocks into the stainless steel pit and head out for a hot toddy or two.

SHAKE THINGS UP WITH A COOKING DISH

Who doesn't love a jacket potato on bonfire night? But that's no excuse to not shake things up with something a tad more adventurous.

Invest in a suspended outdoor Colorado cooking dish and you can rustle up paella, hot pot or home made soup and more over a real flame.

Or prep indoors and just keep your firework fodder warm over an outdoor fire pit.

LIGHT THE WAY

LED light may have a reputation for looking cold but things have moved on. These Moving Flame solar stake lights not only have a warm and cosy orange glow, they simulate a flickering flame too.

Line your lawn or patio with them - let them soak up the sun's rays - and by evening time, they'll cast a golden glow.

They're best for spring, summer and early autumn before the days get too short and dark, as they're solar powered.

MELT MARSHMALLOWS

Not just something to keep you warm on a chilly autumn evening. Make the most of your fire pit, chiminea or outdoor log burner and gather round and have fun toasting moorish marshmallows over the flames.

This toasting fork by Hunter Gatherer at Not on the High Street is made from forged iron in a traditional style. It has a circular hook, so it can be hung up after use and a stylish leather strap.

It has two prongs for two marshmallows so if you have a sweet tooth or you're impatient you might need more than one toasting fork.
