These are the 12 most popular Christmas decorations on the high street this year
Revealed: This year's most sought-after Christmas decorations from Zara Home, Oliver Bonas, Next Home, H&M and IKEA...
Every year, Brits celebrate the festive season by decorating their homes for Christmas – from decorating their front door with a wreath, creating festive entrance hall decor, draping leafy garlands around the banister and decorating the mantelpiece to hanging fabulous baubles and tree toppers on an artificial tree or a real Christmas tree.
While we often reuse our Christmas decorations, us Brits still spend on average £185 per year on new Christmas decorations for the home.
Now new research has revealed which have been the most sought-after decorations from the high street this year – after the M&S light-up snow globe, that is...
These are this year's hottest Christmas decorations from Zara Home, Oliver Bonas, Next Home, H&M and IKEA...
1. Zara Home classic baubles
From high-end to high-street, Zara Home took the top spot as the best homeware brand in the UK.
Part of Zara Home's Portrait of Christmas collection, their tree ornaments have proved particularly popular this year. The collection features a range of classic-inspired designs, from angels, snowflakes, polar bears and reindeers, in either gold, silver or red tones.
These are baubles that won't date, and which will look classic year after year.
2. Zara Home tartan throw
Zara Home's second most popular item has been this Tartan style woolly blanket.
Its soft, red and green textured design is gorgeous for draping over a chair, sofa or bed, and creates an inviting, cosy and wintery accessory that's perfect for snuggling under.
3. Zara Home mercury glass vase
And finally, Zara Home's third most popular decorating item this winter has been their Mercurised Glass Vase – perfect for accessorising a winter table setting.
4. Oliver Bonas Gin Bottle bauble
Ranking the UK’s high-end homeware, luxury brand Oliver Bonas took the top spot as our go-to place for treating our homes with premium interior design. Their unique Christmas decorations are a big hit this year, most notably the Gin Bottle Christmas Tree Decoration.
Shaped like a gin bottle and embroidered in green and turquoise blue with a golden beaded finish, its handcrafted design gives your tree that quirky edge.
5. Oliver Bonas tea light holder
Lights are an essential part of Christmas and the rose gold Stars & Moon Rotary Tea Light Holder, featuring suspended stars around a rotating wheel is perfect for Christmas, reflecting light at all angles.
6. Next Home's festive home fragrance
Next home was crowned runner up as the UK’s best high-street homeware brand, scoring highly in affordability. With an impressive social media presence of 1.7 million followers and 279,430 hashtag mentions, it's no surprise to see that their homeware offerings are so popular.
A particular favourite amongst Next Home’s array of festive goodies is their Festive Spice Diffuser, with a winter spice aroma that lasts up to nine weeks.
7. Next Home's light-up monogram baubles
Personalised gifts are one of this year's biggest gifting trends, and Next Home have responded with their personalised light up monogram baubles. Great for giving the tree a personalised touch and some extra shimmer, but lovely to give as a little gift too.
8. Next Home light-up star
Sometimes the simple things are most effective, and this is the perfect example.
The Next Home Light-Up Paper Star has a simple, Scandi design and can be hung anywhere.
9. H&M Home tea light lanterns
H&M Home's pink glass candle lantern has proved very popular this year, as people have snapped up the decoration to accessorise their festive table, mantelpieces and window ledges. The pink and orange lanterns create a warm, flickering light that helps set a cosy atmosphere.
10. H&M red velvet bolster cushion
H&M Home's second most popular item has been the Red Cushion with tassels , which is perfect for adding some luxe colour and texture to a guest bed, day bed, chair or sofa.
11. IKEA's miniature trees
Swedish homeware giant IKEA took third place in the high-street rankings whilst being number one for the most affordable.
IKEA’s new VINTER 2020 collection is packed with modern, Scandi-inspired yet affordable decorations that have been filling up people's shopping baskets this winter.
In particular, IKEA's set of three Christmas tree set has been snapped up by many. It's a festive accessory for the mantlepiece or window sill, but we also love them for tying to the top of toy cars, or for tying to our gift wrap with a ribbon. The trees are just £1.50 for three.
12. IKEA's LED candles
IKEA’s battery-powered LED Candles are also a popular choice for families at Christmas time. The clever built-in timer means you don’t have to worry about forgetting to switch it off, whilst their flickering effect creates a warm ambience around the house during dark winter nights.
