Are L-shaped sofas a good idea?
Sofas that enable you to seat more people, socialise or lounge are a popular choice. Some L-shaped sofas are made in a way that allows flexibility too, such as those comprised of a three-seater sofa and an armless love seat, which can be configured as an L-shape or separately.
'The advantages of an L-shaped sofa is that it generally offers ample seating with only a little more square footage required,' adds Madison Adam, interior design services manager at Article.
'L-shaped sofas are a type of sectional sofa composed of two conjoined sections. Typically, one side is a chaise module to create an ‘L’ orientation. These sofas can be oriented the same way as a typical sofa, either up against the wall or ‘float’ in the middle of the room where you want to create natural partitions.
'If you’re buying an L-shaped sectional, consider how much space you have around the sofa. Ensure there’s at least 1’ in front of the sofa for adequate space to get around, more if you’re considering pairing the sofa with a coffee table.
'Determine the layout of your space and the various arrangements L-shaped sofas come in. Consider your sight-lines and which configuration best suits your needs.'
