1. GAPPO Monobloc Basin Mixer Tap

If you are after the best black tap for a quick bathroom update and don’t want to spend a lot, this is such a stylish and affordable option. It’s simple design is perfect for a more contemporary bathroom, but could obviously create a really cool contrast in a more traditional style space too. The tap has a soft flow with an anti-splash spout and is suitable for a basin or a bath. It is really quick and easy to install but just bare in mind it is quite a large tap so would suit a sizeable sink.
2. Arezzo Round Matt Black Wall Mounted Basin Mixer Tap

Ideal for a minimalist bathroom, a wall mounted black tap is subtle and chic. Its smooth curved lines and soft matte finish is perfect for when you want to keep your bathroom looking uncluttered and seamless. The handle is super simple, no glaring red and blue indicator just subtle markings on each side so again, nothing to interfere with a minimalist style. This tap is suitable for all plumbing systems but obviously will have to work with your basin design – choose a bowl, counter top basin to complete the look.
3. Mono Bathroom Vanity Sink Bar Tap

This is a tap with a bit of height, so ideal for a larger sink or if your tap needs to sit behind a countertop basin. The high arc design swivels 360°rotation for added convenience and the single hand lever is simple to use and looks really modern and elegant. It’s designed to fit single-hole configurations and has an aerated stream that prevents splashing, is really quiet but very powerful – ideal for low pressure.
4. Tre Mercati Bath Tap

If you need separate taps, rather than a monobloc design, these are the black taps for you. Again, they are a very contemporary design, as most black taps are, but they are compact and understated too. Because the arch of the tap is quite low and the spout short they would work in small sinks without causing a tidal wave every time you brush your teeth. They are compatible with baths or sinks, just so long as your design has two pre drilled holes but be aware this tap doesn’t come with supply lines. The tap is suitable for low pressure systems too.
5. Allora Deck Mounted Pillar Taps

Some traditional style back taps! Yep, if your bathroom is more of a period-style, you can still get on the black tap trend. This style is exactly what you would expect to find in an classic, elegant bathroom but the black matte finish gives it a modern twist that would give a space a stylish contrast. Again, there isn’t really any arch in these taps so ideal for a smaller sink to reduce the risk of splashing. There’s also matching bath taps and shower heads so you could switch out all of your hardware for a quick update.
6. Crosswater MPRO Matt Black Deck Mounted Basin 3 Hole Set

If your basin or bath is designed for a deck mounted tap, this is our top pick. It’s nowhere near as bulky as more traditional deck tap designs, the two compact levers sit close to the surface and allow you to control the hot and cold flow separately, the tap sits in the centre to create a striking but minimalist look.
How to buy the best black tap
Or how to just buy the best tap in fact. Before you get carried away buying the most stylish tap out there, there are a few practicalities to consider:
Low pressure or high pressure?
Before buying any tap, check your hot water system, the water pressure in your home will affect what taps are compatible. If you have a high-pressure water system, you should be able to choose almost any taps, for low pressure systems you’ll need to look out for taps that will give you a stronger flow – all of our picks are suitable for low pressure systems.
Monobloc or pillar taps or wall mounted?
Check how many tap holes your basin has – one hole will mean you need to buy a monobloc tap and two holes mean you will need two separate pillar taps or a deck mounted tap. If you want your tap to come from behind or the side of your basin directly from the vanity unit then the choice is yours. You could also pick a wall mounted design if your basin or bath have no pre-drilled holes.
Handle style
The handles on your taps aren’t all about looks, you also need to think about how you want to use your taps. Lever handles for example are really easy to operate and allow you to have better control of the flow and on monobloc tap, control of the temperature too. Twist taps suit more traditional bathrooms but can be trickier to use.
