See inside Barack Obama's former college apartment
The former POTUS rented this apartment with friends while he studied at Columbia University in New York
Barack Obama's former college apartment is up for sale, offering us a sneak peak into one of his pre-presidency homes. It's not nearly as grand as his current home, but it was perfect at the time and a stone's throw from where the former president was studying at University.
Prior to starting at Harvard Law School in 1988 (and several decades before he became America's president), Barack Obama was a political science major at Columbia University in New York City. And just like most students, he rented together with flatmates (or 'roommates' in America).
His former apartment sits inside a 39-unit apartment block with a live-in concierge, and sits in New York's prestigious Upper West Side. Located at 622 west 114th, Obama's former home sits on a tree-lined stretch of Morningside Heights – just moments from Manhattan's Columbia University where Obama majored in political science in the early 1980s.
The south-facing apartment building has been renovated since the former president rented there in the early 1980s.
High ceilings and large windows offer plenty of sunlight and an airy feel, and residents have a view of the tree-lined street below.
While we don't know what amenities it offered as a student rental, these days the building boasts an elevator, laundry room and a live-in concierge.
There's an eat-in-kitchen with a glass-tiled splash-back and simple, white cabinetry.
Staged images help show how the space could look with new owners.
In the main bedroom, you'll find a wall of fitted wardrobes, an en-suite bathroom with his 'n' hers sinks, and a windowed shower stall.
The second bathroom features marble floor tiles and a soaking tub. Generous second and third bedrooms also offer spacious built-in wardrobes.
The three bedroom apartment is now for sale through Brown Harris Stevens for £1 million.
